Our internal shop prefers us to design for and specify "tangless" threaded inserts in that this kind of threaded insert can be easily removed if required for rework or other reasons. Helicoil (which is a company name) are excellant threaded inserts but, are a challenge to remove. Often removal results in damage to the component which these are installed..
