I am designing a home-built band saw mill. I am going to be using a 60hp VW engine. I want to use v-belts to transmit power from the engine to the drive wheel. The drive pulley has a 5" dia, and the driven pulley has a 15" dia. The distance between centers is 30". According to Martinsprockets.com, a saw mill with a 4cyl engine has a service factor of 2, therefore, the belts should be able to handle 120 hp(if this info is correct). My question to everyone out there is: what size (1/2", 5/8",etc.) and how many belts do I need to run the mill? I was thinking triple 1/2" belts but I am not sure. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kipp
