Tangless inserts are bi-directional, so they install without having to orient them. There is no tang to break-off, remove, account for, or lose. The assembly is FOD-free. A big advantage is they are removable with no destruction to the parent material whatsoever. The insert can also be moved up or down in the tapped hole, if it is installed too shallow, or too deep. The bottom line is that Tangless inserts have rendered tanged inserts esentially obsolete - unless of course you enjoy the cost, frustration, and damage to your parts from removing tangs!
