I am working for an Artist who supplied me with a 2d drawing of a 14' pipe that tapers down and rotates from from bottom to top.
It is like a palm tree trunk. On top there are swoops that hold plant hangers. Water and lighting are piped up through the tubing. Anyway it is pretty cool and he does have the copyright so I have jumped on to try and make production drawings. I have created the model in an early version of inventor. I have all I need within the program for a cnc machine. The thing is we have limited start up cost so he is bending the product with a air assist pipe bender. What he is asking of me is to come up with a way of placing bend points on a straight piece of pipe. This is what I did: 1. Conveted 2d drawing into inventor file with scan to cad. 2. Found midpoint of 2d drawing and used it for 2d axis. 3. Took farthest points of 2d rotation and used as 180 degree rotation in 3d. 4. Used angle of rotation from 3 respective central axis points to create bend line. Is this right? Am I Missing somthing?
