Hi guys. I need some questions answered from experienced people in EE. I graduated in the middle of the recession and took a programming job that I kept the last 2 years. I didn't earn much (40K) but I was fortunate to have had a job in the recession especially that I graduated with literally 0 experience.People are great at work but I want to move to a real engineering career now and make money like everybody else. Since nobody will pay you to train you as a full blown EE, I am planning on going for the Masters EE this Fall or spring for a chance to break into another field by the time I graduate. My Programming is mostly object oriented Java, .Net. Which field of Electrical Engineering do I have the most chance of getting into? I will be fine with any EE subfield as long as I work in a white colour environment as a real engineer and eventually become a Professional Engineer. I thought of Telecom but it may just lead me back to IT which I honestly hate. I never liked it I just did it cause that's all I found and I kinda remained loyal since they believed in me. I took some controls classes and what we did mostly was build blocks for processes, derive formula, simulate in SIMULINK (things like that) and some Ladder Logic Programming. What do people in controls really do all day? Any other suggestion? If it helps I am 25 year old. And Just for curiosity which sub-field of EE people make the most money as simple engineers? Is it Power? |
