    Need help for manufacturing

    Hi,
I want to join two L-angles one across each other with rivets. My problem is while placing one across each other L-angles gets overlapped so here at this zone thickness doubled.i dont want thickness to be doubled so give some suggestions for joining L-angles to the plate with rivets.(Welding is not preffered, only riveting).
Please find the attached file for clear picture.stiff.jpg

Can you weld to the angles before they get to the assembly point?

You could weld small plates to the end of the angles then rivet through the end-plates through the uprights.

Or possibly machine half the thickness off of each leg where they will overlap so they'll sit flush?

Does if have to be angle iron/aluminum? If you make it out of sheet metal you can easily come up with ways to connect the the pieces.
