    Need Help With Measuring

Hi, I have come across a problem. I am part of a quality control department as an intern and I need to find out the best way to measure a diameter. Normaly this would be no problem, but there is a chamfer involved. I must measure from the center of the chamfer. It's too small to use calipers or gages, so we are using a ocular table. Is there any way to make the center of the chamfer more visible?

Also, are there other ways of measuring chamfers and diameters?

What diameter are we talking about here? You need t be more explicit with details if you are after a more explicit answer.

If you are talking about say an inch-diameter or smaller, then a ground ball bearing could be used. Drop the ball in so that it contacts the chamfer surface and measure from the top of the ball to the top of the part. Simple Trig will get you an answer. If it is 36" in diameter then...

You will get better responses if you can include a diagram, drawing, or picture. I'm trying to picture what you mean by "center of the chamfer" and frankly, I have no idea.
