Am an outsider to the field of fluid dynamics (my background being DCS/PLC) but somehow got connected to below problem (since I want to show the readings in my DCS computer)
1) A pipe divides into 2 branches (of equal dia as the main pipe) - Does this mean flow in the 2 branches are halved? (say the flow am talking about is volumetric flow Nm3/hr). For example, if the flow in main pipe is 100 Nm3/hr, does this mean flow in these branch pipes is 50 Nm3/hr each?
I believe the pressure in the main line and the 2 branches remain the same (i consider pressure as analogous to voltage and flow as analog to current)
2) Next Scenario:- If Main Pipe is DN 100 and the 2 branch pipes are DN50 each?
Is it the same in this case also i.e Main Pipe 100 Nm3/hr, Branch Pipes 50 Nm3/hr
3) Last Scenario:- If Main pipe is DN100 and Branch-A DN40 and Branch-B DN60?
