Hi folks,
I've been a Mechanical designer for over ten years now, and really feel stuck. I've been focused mainly on machine and equipment design, and have landed in Alberta with my wife.
I feel like im too specialized out here, and have hit a road block after an economicly induced layoff.
I'm seriously considering a career change. Have any of you broken out of your mold a few years deep into our careers?
If so, how? I'm finding employers are very experience specific.
Thanks,
Ryan

Despite of career change, why don't you look to switch to USA for some better opportunities according to your skills and expertise or moved some other state in canada where there is need for specialized mechanical designer.
Might be good to look for other opportunities in other country.
