Hi, I am working on a large machine that runs along a set of tracks some tracks that will over hang the end of the tracks up to the point where the calculated centre of mass will hang just over (the rollers are bearing blocks that are essentially fixed to the track... so if the machine goes the whole thing goes). In order for us to test this on site I am designing a frame to mount the tracks on and I am having trouble trying to determine the force that will be trying to lift the back end of the frame so I can select the correct fastening.
Original thought was to work out the torque from the pivot point of the wheel at the front of the track and the centre of mass that just just about overhangs. Then try and work that back to the end of the frame to determine the force acting on the end of the frame where it will bolted to the floor although now don't think this is the best way to go about it.
Any help would be appreciated.
