    Lean waste

What are the differences between seven lean wastes (DOTWIMP) and eight deadly lean wastes (DOWNTIME)?

Some references say that there are seven different lean wastes, while other references say that there are eight different lean wastes. I would like to know which statement is more accurate.

The key difference between the two is the "N". In downtime the N stands for not utilizing talent.

I'm not sure that there is one that is more accurate than the other. However, I would always stick with the 8 deadly wastes because it is important to keep the employees in mind when developing or troubleshooting a process.

Plus downtime is an easy acronym to remember.
