Look at solenoid actuators. They're basically just electromagnetically driven linear actuators.
Hi, new to this forum. I have a project where we are verifying RFID tags moving past an RFID reader. If the tag is found to be defective, then we need to mark it as bad.
I was thinking a nice way to accomplish this would be a fast electric hole puncher, to punch a hole in the bad tag (it's a paper or PPE material). But I can't find such a device being manufcatured - all the hole punchers I find that might be suitable are hydraulic or pneumatic. Any suggestions?

Awesome, I'm going to give this a try!
