What kind of spring s it?
Please forgive me for I am simple.I am going to build a 35mm film camera and need to include a simple shutter mechanism. The question I can't answer is about spring rate and speed the shutter would be closed by the spring so it goes like this.
A spring attached to the shutter gate is stretched 1 inch for a force of 1 pound. The gate is released and the spring moves the gate to close the frame and end the film exposure.
IF THE SPRING RATE IS DOUBLED BY STRETCHING 2 INCHES WILL THE SHUTTER GATE MOVE TWICE AS FAST WHEN RELEASED?????
I am not including friction.
Thankyou to all in cyber space!
What kind of spring s it?
Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.
All other things being equal, and assuming its not a constant force spring, twice the force applied to the same mass will produce twice the acceleration.
As jboggs says twice the force.
The spring rate is 1 pound per inch of deflection regardless of the length that you stretch it until you exceed the useful working length.
