What is QV/Ib? Resultant stress should be analyzed in all planes as applicable.
I'm confused when to use QV/(Ib) vs. V/A. It seems like the only time I would use QV/(Ib) is when bending is present. Would I be correct?

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.
VQ/Ib is used to determine shear stress that results from the shear flow between layers of say, lengths of timber bolted together to form a beam and you need to find the shear stress at the bolt centres to determine the correct size, grade, etc.
I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place, but I did have a question that involves stresses, so I hope you guys can help me out
This question appeared in the Indian Engineering Services exam (IES) 2017 and I just need to know how to approach this question.
I tried a lot of Indian forums but their approach is just confusing and I'm here for guidance.
This is the google drive link to the question paper and the question number is 4 subsection a.Mechanical_Engg_2_1 (1).pdf
