    Volume x lbs/volume

    Hello there
If you steel shape is simple their answers are right but are your shape is not as a geometric shape I suggest you model it in SolidWorks software and go to the evaluate and find its weight with a high accuracy

First calculate the volume of the steel sheet. Note: If you are calculating the weight of circular steel reinforcement bar than calculate its volume by using this formula (πD^2/4) and then just multiply by the density of steel which is 7850 kg/m^3 and you will get the final weight of the steel.

    Calculate Weight of Steel Bars

    1. Estimation of Steel Reinforcement for slab, beam and column.
    2. Weight of steel Flat bar = (Length x width x thickness) x 7850.
    3. Example 1: Determine the unit weight of MS Flat bar of width 40mm and Thickness of 20mm.
    4. Weight of steel bar = Volume of steel Bar x Density of steel.

    • Weight of bar in kg/meter should be calculated as (d2 ÷ 162) where‘d’ is the diameter of bar in mm.
    • ‘L’ for column main steel in footing should be considered as minimum 30cm/as specified.
    • For bent up bar add 0.42d in straight length of bar where‘d’ is the clear depth of beam/slab.
    • For cantilever, beam anchorage length for main steel should be 69D or length of cantilever whichever is greater.

Weight per meter of different dia of steel bar.

    • 6 = 0.222 kg per meter
    • 8 = 0.395 kg per meter
    • 10 = 0.617 kg per meter
    • 12 = 0.888 kg per meter
    • 16 = 1.58 kg per meter
    • 20 = 2.469 kg per meter

With help of this formula you can find any type of dia bar weight
    (d2 ÷ 162)
    Where
D = diameter of bar in mm.

Weight is a measure of the force of gravity pulling down on an object. It depends on the object's mass and the acceleration due to gravity, which is 9.8 m/s2 on Earth. The formula for calculating weight is F = m × 9.8 m/s2, where F is the object's weight in Newtons (N) and m is the object's mass in kilograms.
