Sometimes something that should be simple may not be so. I have to clamp a number of plastic sheets vertically and need to know what clamping force to use. Clamping a single sheet is simple - the clamp force is the weight divided by mu. But what clamping force is required when we clamp multiple sheets vertically? I think it is the sme force as the force is the same at each sheet interface, but that feels wrong.
Does anyone have the answer and the explanation?
