Radioplan Launches North American Optimization Division

Dresden, Germany and Reston, VA, USA, 7 December 2005

Radioplan, the German automatic wireless network optimization vendor, today announced the opening of a new North American division, based on the East Coast of the USA, and the appointment of optimization industry veteran Tim Brooks to head the unit.

Radioplan's popular optimization solution, WiNeS, which features capabilties to optimize GSM/GPRS/EDGE, WCDMA/HSDPA and CDMA2000/EVDO, is in broad use in Europe, Asia and Japan, and has already been selected to assist in the deployment of some of North America's biggest 3G networks. The investment in a local presence, located in the Reston, Virginia, technology corridor just outside Washington, DC, will provide an American continental base for Radioplan's commercial and technical support operations.

"The story of Radioplan so far has been organic growth based on a reliable, effective product and satisfied customers, and we are pleased that we have achieved some important early customer wins in the USA", said Johannes Huebner, Radioplan's CEO. "We are grateful for the trust that some enormous companies have placed in our technology and capabilities, and the opening of this new office and the hiring of experienced local staff will be a key part of ensuring we deliver fully on our commitments both to those customers, and to many more in the future."

Mr Brooks brings over 15 years of wireless industry experience to the North American office, including senior positions with optimization, and test and measurement solution vendors. He joins Radioplan from PCTEL's RF Solutions Group.

Radioplan, which is privately owned by the original founding partners, has been producing wireless optimization and simulation technologies since 2000. The WiNeS product suite includes indoor and outdoor ACP tools, static, hybrid and fully-dynamic simulators and ray-launching propagation modelling tools. The WiNeS software suite is equipment vendor independent, with flexible interfaces to a broad range of planning tools, drive test and scanner solutions, OSS systems and switch performance monitoring systems. WiNeS ACP is currently in commercial use at dozens of operator, vendor and RF services customers worldwide, and several hundred new users have been trained during 2005.
