Bookham To Highlight Expanded High Power Laser Diode Portfolio At Photonics West 2006 | |

San Jose, CA - January 17, 2006 -. Bookham, Inc. (NASDAQ: BKHM), a leading provider of optical components, modules and subsystems, is further extending its high power laser diode portfolio to the industrial and defense markets at Photonics West later this month. Building on the success of its high power laser diode bars and single emitters, Bookham is unveiling a range of high performance, integrated solutions, such as vertical stacks, linear arrays, and fiber-pigtailed modules. The full product portfolio will be making its US debut at the Bookham stand (number 1727). Highlights include:

"This capability will enable our customers to achieve more cost effective and higher performance solutions in the rod, disk and fiber laser markets as well as pushing the boundaries for direct diode applications. Dr. Giorgio Anania, Chief Executive Officer of Bookham, will be joining an executive panel to discuss the Bookham strategy and his views on trends and opportunities within the marketplace. "High power laser diodes will play a major role in the Bookham strategy for 2006 and beyond," said Dr. Anania. "Bookham is committed to providing high power laser diodes to the key industrial and defense markets and, based on the success we have seen in 2005, we see this portfolio as a major growth driver for us in 2006 and beyond." Bookham is also presenting two papers at associated symposium LASE 2006: High brightness laser diode bars, and 9xx high power pump modules.
