Hi
I just found your web site and I thought I would give it a try and ask you a similar question ( I haven’t work as a M.E. for a long time and I am having troubles with this problems).
I have an aluminum plate with thickness of ½ in and it is 6 in x 6 in. I am applying a distributed load from the top of 500 psi. The plate press against another aluminum plate of the same dimensions, but sandwich in between them is a plastic rectangle of 1/8 in thickness and 3in x 2 in. Assuming the plastic plate is incompressible, Can you tell me the deflection of the aluminum top plate at the edges?
Could you please explain to me the procedure of how you came out with the equation and the final solution?
Thank you very much
