I still need to get the concept right. I think I'll get things right if this question of mine is answered:
Can stress be induced in a object without straining it?
An external force will not induce any strain until it starts straining the object. Which means: any stress-strain diagram should have a non zero value at the origin for the Y axis. But most stress-strain diagram are shown with 0,0 at the origin.
Pkease clarify.
