Galvanized Bolts

I had a quick question about galvanized bolts-- I am building an outdoor swing set out of cedar and will need to use carriage bolts. I am not sure if zinc plated bolts are sufficiently rust resistant for the project or if it makes sense to spend the extra money on hot dipped galvanized bolts. Any opinions? Also are the hot dipped bolts hazardous for children (e.g., from eating zinc flakes)?
