Have you or can you use, a ball screw? All this
becomes a bit moot and there are many inexpensive
ball screw/nut configurations out there now???
Even the cheap ones are pretty darned accurate if
you aren't building / re-building a machine tool where
accuracy needs to be closser than .005 inch. (Even then
you won't get there unless you can rotate the screw
to the close loop report of a quality encoder.)
For high load movement with the least required torque go to
a ball screw. AND the manufactur can furnish all the torque
requirement data you can stand.
