Stainless steel pipe producing and "Centerline" indications

I am a welding engineer for a tube and pipe facility and am currently battling with centerline indications on 2,3,and 4 inch pipe-- (300 series). Other than slowing welding speeds down is there a solution to this problem (ie; arc deflection)?
Any help with my current situation would be greatly appreciated.
