Hi,
I am a draftman myself and I think the primary thing in drawing is to don't leave any unanswered question. Drawings for machine shop have tighter tolerances and depending of the way the part will be done the drawing technique and dims will change. I had, on my trainning course a book from which I have learned a lot more than from my teacher. It cover most of what you might want to know from technical drawings. The title is "Engineering Drawing and Design" writen by Cecil Jensen at McGraw-Hill Edition, ISBN0-07-082955-1
