It depends....you can get very light ones for light deck applications or you can get a 2X8 seat designed to carry the heal of a very heavily loaded truss. The thickness of the metal, the number of nails and placement of nails is controlled by the design load.

Try searching with "wood connectors" and look at the manufacturers websites.
