My company is performing remote GTAW welding operations in a nuclear power plant. On a previous project at this location, we experienced porosity in the weld joints due to excessive moisture in the Argon shielding gas. I know that the porosity was due to excessive moisture since we attached a moisture monitor to the discharge side of the header and the readings were out of tolerance. I feel that this was due to extreme temperature changes between dayshift and nightshift and since the header was outside and subject to these temperature extremes, My question is,"What would be a safe range of temperatures that the header and feeder hose could be subjected to and not develop moisture within the system." There will be intermittent flow of Argon through this system due to down times for radiography of the completed welds, however; the system will remain charged. Pressure in the system will not exceed 150psi with 4720 CFH of use during full operation.
