daniel,
A scientist is learned and trained in one or more sciences
and strives to become more learned in that or more sciences.
Often they go on to test and obtain additional
physical or chemcial laws and rules to futher
our knowledge of science. They advise in science
and are often hired by a company to investigate
deeper into a science to find new ways to accomplish
tasks through science so that they can be better applied
by engineers.

An engineer applies those sciences and physics to design
machines, bridges, computers, software, space ships,
and on and on. An engineer needs to be learned in sevral
sciences to better apply them. Often engineers send
requests to scientist to help gain additional knowledge
about physical or chemical properties of new products in order to
stretch the envelope when a new technology is required
to achieve a task.

An good example of these in team action is the space
program.
Realize, both interact greatly and depend on each other
greatly.
