I've got another question based on this discussion. Maybe someone can help me out.
From what I've read about stainless steel surface finish, the number 2B finish mentioned is a cold rolling operation. I frequently call out a number 2 brushed finish on parts. Is there a roughness value for brushed finishes? It seems to lie between 16 and 32 microfinish.
thanks,
: : What is the standard mill finish 2B and #4 finish equal to in rms? I need an equivalant to 32rms per ANSI B 46.1.
: : Thanks

: There is no standard for roughness in either finish. The normal Ra for 2B is under 10 microinch-it depends on gauge. For #4 it is normally between 5 and 15 microinch.
