the ring gasket is under compression between the two flanges and the pipe wall under tension, in this case the prussure has to bring up the gasket wall to a tension state as in pipe wall to cause the failure.....AMIR
: This question is related to flanges used in oil industry. If anyone working in this area please clarify.
: Why the wall thickness of ring gaskets [used between two flanges] is thinner than the wall thickness of pipe although ring gasket also will be under same internal pressure as pipe. Infact some times the material strength of ring gasket is less than pipe body material!
