Hi all.

I'm looking for ideas on a material with high rigidity, and low rigidity along the perpendicular axis. Essentially, free flex along one plane, but no torsion.

Any ideas on how I can accomplish this without a hinge or exposed moving parts that could stop working if they became dirty?

I'd also like low thermal conductivity. And the usual cost nothing, weigh nothing criteria.

You want a corrugated material. Such as fiberglass porch roof panels, or the skin on an old Ford Tri-Motor airplane. The corrugations stiffen it in the direction of the corrugations and weaken it perpendicular to tham.

Oh! There's a good idea! I've been mucking around looking at data sheets for various polymers - this is much simpler. Thanks.
