I'm trying to find a chart showing strength of tubing in compression. Any leads? I'm building a platform, with legs of 2"x2" box tubing, and I'm debating with my other designers about 11G vs 16G tubing. I think 16G is plenty strong, but have no way of proving my point. Can anybody help me on this one? Thanks,

Did you ever get your answer? You can find the numbers in the Manual of Steel Construction 9th Edition. I myself do not have one but I know the numbers are in there. I have used the manual before. Square tubes, mill sections, angles etc. are all listed. I would also like to find the info on-line. Could you help? Tobias |
