I ran across this site (https://tonto.eia.doe.gov/oog/info/gdu/gasdiesel.asp) which tracks the costs of gasoline and Diesel.

I have had the perception that Diesel was less expensive to refine than gasoline. The bottom line for me is that the cost of gasoline is effecting my fishing time...

Yeah, I drive about 30 miles one way, and I drive a Toyota FJ Cruiser... $$$ go to the gas mongoles.

So, I'm looking to trade my 1977 Toyota FJ-40 for a Harley to save fuel money and miles off my FJ Cruiser (on nice days).

SEE?? this means I can leverage my wife on the need to have a Harley. ...got'ta take best advantage of a bad situation....

... I'd sure hate to "have to" ride to work on a Harley on nice days because of the fuel prices.

..anyone want to trade a mid '90's Harley soft tale for a mean, go anywhere, FJ-40?

FJ-40 = likely about the best (rugged, reliable, long lasting) auto ever built. ... but the old babe gets 10 miles to the gallon, up hill, down hill, winter, summer, 60MPH or 20MPH...
on the other note if you point it a direction you ARE going to get there come hell, high water, trees, rocks, mountians, or whatever.

I think buying a Harley is the eco-friendly thing to do. Clearly you have the environment and financial interests of your family front and center.

Randy, you are a great American.

well... don't be writing me in for president.. ok?

I need to cc your post to my wife. If it does nothing to aid my Harley purchase case, it will provide her a great laugh.

Kelly,

I feel your pain. I am going to have to get a rowboat and drag it to the lake on my ten-speed. With the price of fuel, I had to scrape a bit to buy a fishing license this year!

Last weekend, traded my Pick Up in for a 4 cyl Dodge Avenger....saves me gas money and money I would have spent at Home Depot...because I had a truck.

I'll miss my runs to the dump though. :(

Reg gas up here in NH is running about $3.40.

I'll kindly pay you Tuesday..for a hamburger today....Whimpy

Remember the stories from the Dark Ages about alchemists and their quests to develop a process to change common metals into gold? The modern-era alchemists are those people who are trying to convert common materials into gasoline.
