Why do they use bolt ss316 vs nut ss304?

this application in wastw water clarifier. they used the ss316 bolt with ss304 nut..

Interesting question, 304 has better welding characteristics and is less apt to intergranular corriosion.  Often is used in  welded or fabricated structures. 316 has superior corrosion resitance to salt water any many chemicals, excellant high-temperature tensile and creep characteristics. They are capatible with each other .. What is the environment thay are being using in?
