PLC stand for programable logic control and it used for a limit control purpose such as controlling set of valves for lube oil. where DCS stands for distribution control system it used for controlling big industries which have sets of systems have to be controlled and syncronized to act as one system so that DCS used to provide such control and syncronization. The process of DCS start from the feild or plant that sending many signals from different instruments (pressur, temperature, flow, level, speed motors, etc) to the processor units. these processors conected together in a network by aid of hubs or switches. This network provides two main things first it provides communication between the processors seeking communication of different systems in the feild. second, it provides remotly controle by the user computers which connected to this network. Also some industries whose using bothe PLC and DCS they connect the PLC with DCS for remotly monitoring and protecting system that has been controlled by PLC.
