Edit

I am looking for opinions of tempering effects within a current process I am reviewing. The specifications are as follows:

Base material: AMS 6265 Alloy Steel (9310)
Pre-Condition: Core developed, 33-41 Rc core hardness
Type: Machined round shaft with worm-style thread
Heat Treat: Carburized & case hardened (58-62 HRc case, .022"-.032" effective depth)
Finishing Ops: Thread grinding and multiple OD journal grinds
Stress Relieve: 275F +/-25 @ 5 hours minimum (pre-plate)
Plating: Cadmium all over except worm threads
Post Plate: Hydrogen embrittlement relief bake 375F +/-25 @ 23 hours minimum.

Opinions of tempering effects on case hardness during the post plate bake operation? Will there be a risk of reducing effective case hardness? Main concern is the un-plated worm thread and if effective hardness will be reduced.

Input is much appreciated.
