need to specify the tolerance on a 6H thread but cant find the info I need. It's a M45x1 nut. If anyone can give me the info or a link to a site where I can find the info it will be greatly apreciated. |

Did you not try the "Bible?" Machinery's Handbook. I have not looked but I would be very surprised if they don't have it. Dave |

I spent a few hours looking through a mechinery's handbook and the only reference I could find to this tolerance was that a 6H is a medium class tolerance. Now how much is a medium class tolerance, how much is fine and how much is course? Thanx for the replies, I really appreciate it! |

OK, you stopped me being lazy, well for 2 minutes anyway. The actual maximum and minimum clearances in mm or thousandths will vary for a given thread diameter and Pitch. Look for thread Classes as in Class I, Class II etc. The 6H will fall under Class II. From there you need to calculate what the allowable maximum over-cut and under-cut will be for a specific Pitch Diameter. I did not search further, I will leave that to you. That should get you started.
