We are doing a conceptual design for a transferring device which is used to transfer the people with spinal disability from the wheelchair into the front car seat. We decide to used Chrome Plated Steel as the frame of our device, since it is used a lot in the office chairs, and our device looks very alike the office chairs. Is it a good idea? i wanna be an ENGINEER!

Sure it is. Work with your tubing supplier to pick an alloy with the correct blend of nickel, chromium, and molybdenum to provide the correct strength, stiffness, tensil, and weight to make a good reliable product. The best example is bicycle handlebars, very light and very strong and stiff, a molybdenum steel product. Next, locate bending companies that can provide your parts to the shape you need with the holes already punched, drilled or flared, heat treated, chromed, and ready to install. There are plenty of companies that provide the hardware to fasten and plug the tubes to make that professional finished product. ...
