aluminum to steel conversion | |||

I am wanting to know where I can find a conversion chart that will tell me the strengths and elastisity of different metals.
I am working on a project that was designed in aluminum (6061 T6) to be exact and I want to know what a standard mild steel equivelant would be. The project calls for 6061 T6 aluminum in a 2"x2"x.125"wall what would be an equal strength wall thickness if converted to mild steel? |

You need to compare the modulus index of the two materials. Consider the yield strengths if any serious bending is intended. Also, the Poissin's rato (lateral to longitudinal strain). This rato is .334 for average aluminum and .303 for mild steel.
