Hello, This may be a very simple quesiton, but i would like to know the procedure for calculation for strenght of shaft. I am an intern at Rosenthalf Mfg. and am supposed to calculate the strenght of shaft, if anyone can explain me. Right now i dont have any book with me.

First, you should determine what strength you are looking for... shear, torsion, bending, youngs modulus, yeild strength etc. What application will this shaft be used in? Static loading, fatique or a combination.
