Here in Pakistan we are fast converting gasoline(petrol) running cars to CNG (compressed natural gas @ 245 bar) since the gas is cheap.When people run there cars at cng they report that the engine gets hotter much quickly then running on petrol fuel. Also the rings worn out much more fast,vehicle requires a top overhaul after a year of running why is that.

As with lpg, cng will burn hotter than petrol. gas blends better with the air intake than atomised petrol which is very small droplets of petrol suspended in the air. Lpg has an octaine rating of approximatly 110% and unleaded petrol is 90%. The engines tend to wear out faster as there is no lubrication in gas, but petrol has adatives in it to help with the problem. You could try an oil droplet kit (upper cylinder lubricating system) that will help stop valve ressesion into the head. The best oil to use is two stroke oil as it's designed for lubricating an engine and will survive a little in the combustion cycle to lub the exhaust valve seat on the way out. |
