strain-life approach for random vibration failure of sheet metal | |||

A sheet metal (low alloy steel) component is being analyzed for cracks observed during transportation. The failure cases, however is pretty scanty: just 1 in 10,000. I still would like to predict life dependent primarily on a sharp notch. Rendering the notch with a small fillet, FEA results gave beyond yield stress (SEQV) as 1 sigma value. Elasto-plastic material properties are not available. How correct it is to assume elastic strain to be the major player in the failure process and NOT plastic strain? Is there a way I can get more data of SAE 1006 / 1008 on the www? I'm using Ansys for FEA. Could you pls point me towards any good info avialbl on the www that talks abt the strain-life method without a notch?
