Hi Ali, A Manufacturing Engineer (myself) strives to be an expert in manufacturing in a product line, this includes design of manufacturing machinery, time studies, product, materials, electroincs, productivity, JIT, KanBan, safety, enviormental, work cells, jusification of all the above, and many more concepts. An Industrial Engineer is interested in plant operations and design, the air management systems, waste systems, pneumatic systems, IT, plumbing, electrical supply systems, emergency power, fuel supply, parking, overhead cranes, and so forth. However the two can and often are very much overlaped, covered my one engineer, or completely wrapped up into one position along with the mechanical engineering responsibilities at a work place. It is not unusual for a mechanical engineer to work in either of these positions, and it is not unusual for these two engineers to be working as a mechanical engineer. The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them.
