I am looking to remove 2 walls in my livingroom. Both are 12ft long and meet at a corner. The wall by the fron door (wall A) is 12 ft from the exterior of the house and 6 ft from the wall in the hall. The adjacent wall (wall B) is 16 ft from the front of the house and 12 from the exterior of the house at the back of the house. The walls are on the 1st floor. 2 bedrooms plus attic space are over head. I can run one beam to replace wall B from the exterior of the house to the stairs. I want to tie in the other beam into this one. How can I size the two beams? I have searched the web looking for an easy answer. I think I could use (3) 2X8 with (2) 1" plates. Can anyone verify this?
