Hi..

I have a problem to manipulate sroke a cylinder. I'm design a lifter 4m high but I only have 1m cylinder..

If somebody have a information about the mechanism which is could manipulate the cilinder stroke from 1 meter to 4 meter with a gear or rope system, please inform me...

Thanks...

RD

It can be done with a pulley and rope/chain system. Draw out the following steps on paper starting left; Attach a pulley to ground, attach a cilinder with its bottom to ground at the same height as the pulley, let the pistonrod point down, attach a pulley to the piston rod, attach a rope to ground at the same height as the first pulley, guide the rope past the pulley on the pistonrod the guide it past the pulley fixed to ground and let it hang down and attach lifting bucket to it. This mechanism doubles your stroke from 1 m to 2 m, adding more pulleys increases the length further.

Sounds like you need a scissor type lift or buy a 4 mtr stroke cylinder. Maytag

Use a scissor Lift. Its the most elegant way to do this job, in fact depending on the load, even a 650mm cylinder stroke can be used for a lift of 4 m using a 2 stage lift. Otherwise, look at how forklifts are assembled. Use 5 sections, each of 1m height. then couple them using ropes and pulleys such that the attachment sequence is
#1bottom (fix)-#2top (pulley) - #3 (fix)
#2bottom (fix)-#3top (pulley) - #4 (fix)
#3bottom (fix)-#4top (pulley) - #5 (fix)
Then fix the cylinder on the base and the top end of the cylinder on the top of #2 This will solve your problem
