Is there a good calculator out there for determining the times it takes to face off steel on a lathe based on feed and speed and distance of travel and depth of cut?

Your insert providers can get you one. In the past these were slide calculators, I bet now they have electronic ones.

for inches it is (((major diameter - minor diameter) / (thousands of an inch of feed per revolution)) / (RPM)) = minutes per face pass.
