Modulus of Elasticity on PTFE | |||

Has any one had any experience finding the modulus of teflon? What type of test do you do? I am currently using a D638 type 1 die to die out samples between 3mm -5mm thick. I am testing them at 4.5" min. The samples break in under 5 min. Elongation is 500-600%. I'm using a laser extensometer to measure strain.
I can not achieve any consistency in my testing. The ultimate elongation and ultimate load are consistent. I'm using a electromagnetic UTM whick has been calibrated and verified for speed and load. |

I see the Modulus of elasticity is blank under tensile strength. Since PTFE is a "plastic", the modulus is very high. My problem is that it not consistent. I have tried finding trends and troubleshooting our procedure. I've even participated in a collaborative study. No luck. Thanks for your help. |
