Hi all, I have a doubt in manufacturing of flanges. Normally 316L SS Flanges are made by Forging/Casting. but is there a possibility to machine a flange from SS bar instead of going to Forging/Casting.? This i required for a protype development which is required in two numbers. So for producing these two quantity, the cost of forging is too high. Can any help me... Thanks,

You can buy SS in bar and plate stock. I would definately manufacture your prototypes from purchased stock before I spend the money for special tooling. |

Dear Mr.Kelly
Thank you for your kind reply. Can suugest me exactly whether it will withstand design pressure and temperature while in service when compared to forged flanges. Is there will be any change in strength of flange made from forged bar. Regards Kamalesh |
