hi,
i am trying to design a hot water storage tank for domestic hot water production for a project. how can i calculate the required heat exchanger capacity (and surface area). it will be stainless steel tank, capacities vary. i would be glad if someone could help me out. thanks |

What kind of heat exchanger you want to design ? Parallel flow or Counter flow type. An optimized design mainly depends on the pressure difference between the hot and cold fluids and the temperatures at the hot and cold side inlets and outlets. Depending on how much heat you are taking out at the condensor portion, the mass flow rate can be estimated since we know the working fluid (Water). We can calculate all other cycle parameters based on that and we also know the initial pressure as 1 bar. |

it will be a helical (spiral) shaped heat exchanger in a water tank, heated by a boiler. i am not sure if we can define it as parallel flow or counter flow. water inlet and outlet temp. for the storage tank is 10 C and 60 C. water in the coil is 80 C. what other info do we need? |
