If you can not find any information on this subject, please let me know. This sounds interesting and I am willing to work on this with you for free. I can create the manufacturing drawings based on what the requirements are if you wish to build it from scratch.

Hey Rowzee! Thanks for the interest and the offer. Currently I've rigged a clamp to an embarrassingly fragile articulated arm and tripod head. For testing, they work, sorta, with a very small HP 2.1 MG digital point & shoot. With this rig, anything larger would not work at all. A camera is needed with a large enough viewing screen so composition can be easily accomplished. Hopefully, it can be positioned both horizontally and vertically. I'd like the arm to work with still cameras as well as digital video and, obviously, be sturdy enough to clamp on the wheel chair. The class is called "A Different Perspective" and should be receiving authorization to be included in our fall 2006 course selection book. Funding probably will not be too difficult because of ADA, etc., and publicity should be somewhat easy to acquire. With voice recognition computers driving PhotoShop and Final Cut Pro, the students should be able to create some pretty exciting stuff. Planned is a traveling exhibit entitled "A Different Perspective." Long term the course could be organized in every major school district, and you're right, it is interesting. It's also beneficial and needed and should be a hell of a lot fun for all concerned. I'm anything but an engineer - I lost my slide rule many years ago. Ideally I'd love for it to be constructed of off-the-shelf items, but I'm fearful this is not to be, unless we marry items from far flung fields other than photography - which is certainly a possibility. I do not foresee this as a money maker, but you never know. I'm simply looking for an enjoyable and useful way to coast toward retirement and travel. My background is as a professional photographer for 2o years. Also, I taught photography three years in a major liberal arts college and 12 years on the high school level. Will it be beneficial for you if I created an assembly drawing, showing how the pieces will fit together and attach. I will need some more information from you. Where on the wheelchair do you wish to attach (I assume one of the arms)? How heavy is the heaviest camera you wish to mount? What woudld be the ideal height or should I look into a telescoping unit? Are you mounting on round tubing? You can email me with this information @ rowzeekinns@aol.com Hopefully I can come up with something economical.
