Here's a senario... Somehow, by some unknown force or calamity, the world had to start over technologically. We woke one day after a terrible disaster and there was nothing left. No machines, no tools, nothing, but humans and the ground we walk on. There would be plenty of garden food to sustain us but there would be no technology. No shovels, no hoes, no knives, nothing of any design or creation. What we do have are our memories and knowledge of technology. Scientists still remember their training. We even have the blueprints and recipes for the technology we had yesterday before the calamity. Here's the question. How long would it take to recreate the technology to bring us back to where we were yesterday. For example, to build a machine we would need a machine tool. To make a knife we would need a way to mine iron ore then refine it then sharpen it which in turn requires other technology. How would one begin to make a train from scratch? How would scientist make a telescope? How long would it take and what would be the first technology that would need to be recreated in order to take the next step? dc

F I R E !!! Only because in your concept language is still intact, or we would not still understand the sciences you mentioned. The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them.
